| | I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and Lane Mfg. I spent most of my career as a journeyman plumber in Phoenix Arizona. After many years in the plumbing industry, I was injured on the job. During an extended period rehabilitation, I obtained a plumbing contractors license and moved to a rural setting in Northern Arizona to set up shop.
During this time I also began installing satellite equipment in addition to the plumbing business and though moderately successful, I began to look for a new direction. This quest eventually brought me to New Mexico to head up the service and installation department of a new “C” band type satellite dish and home entertainment company. Unfortunately, after a couple of years they were forced out of business due to the introduction of the new small dish DSS systems like Dish Network and Direct TV.
I then became an independent contractor maintaining the existing large “C” band type satellite systems and also installing alarm systems in the small town of Los Lunas, New Mexico which is about 30 miles south of Albuquerque and purchased the property on which I constructed my home and shop. It was about that time when my father, Fred Lane, unexpectedly passed away. He had been very involved in the world of miniatures and he attended most of the Western miniature shows. He was known in that world as the “tool man” since he was manufacturing and repairing various “miniaturized” power tools specific to the hobby.
Then, in what began as an effort to service his obligations to his customers, I started finishing up on the repair orders remaining in his shop, and fulfilling various equipment orders. Much to my surprise, I found that I truly enjoyed this world of “micro” manufacturing and began constructing small machine shop equipment and tooling. This is also how I became an authorized Taig dealer. My father had been using the Taig lathe as the foundation for his wood turning and duplicator lathes.
My passion is taking the basic Taig lathe, making a number of improvements, and highly accessorizing them. I offer several packages as well as a number of accessories of my own design for sale.
